P. yoelii yoelii 17X Ookinete
Difference from wild-type
RMgm-5289
The aprp4 mutant showed normal asexual blood stage proliferation and gametocyte production. However, the mutant displayed a moderate decrease in mature ookinete formation. The mature-looking mutant ookinetes lost the crescent shape and had an impaired gliding ability compared to the WT. As a consequence, the aprp4 mutant produced significantly decreased numbers of midgut oocysts in the infected mosquitoes. These defects caused by depletion of either APRp4 were in concordance with the phenotype of the apr2 mutant.
